Partnership With Toledo Public Schools

Partners in Education provides background checks for parents  and friends of the schools who want to volunteer with the Toledo Public School System. If you wish to volunteer in the school system, you must complete a Volunteer Form (available at each school or through Partners in Education).

TPS covers the cost for TPS parents, caregivers and communities of faith/houses of worship who have adopted specific TPS schools.

FREE Training for TPS Volunteers

Toledo Public schools is partnering with Partners in Education to provide FREE and MANDATORY training to parent, caregiver and community partner volunteers. This training will offer the basics on best practices in volunteering with K-12 students, Toledo Public Schools policies and procedures and the process of completing background checks.
  • New volunteer training opportunities will take place during the 2019-2020 school year. (See registration information on the right side of this webpage)
  • Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

This training is especially for volunteers who are working with and tutoring students who are English language learners (students for whom English is not their first language). There are a number of ways to support the language and literacy development of English language learners (ELLs) that also allow students to participate more fully in school activities and lessons.
