YES! We do.

We offer several types of training.
1. Free training for anyone who volunteers in Toledo Public Schools in partnership with the district.
2. Customized volunteer training for businesses and faith-based organizations partnering with area schools.
3. Customized training for nonprofit partners who run their background checks through Partners in Education.

Toledo Public schools is partnering with Partners in Education to provide FREE and MANDATORY training to parent, caregiver and community partner volunteers. This training will offer the basics on best practices in volunteering with K-12 students, Toledo Public Schools policies and procedures and the process of completing background checks.

This training is especially for volunteers who are working with and tutoring students who are English language learners (students for whom English is not their first language). There are a number of ways to support the language and literacy development of English language learners (ELLs) that also allow students to participate more fully in school activities and lessons. Did you know 26% of children in the United States will witness or experience a traumatic event
before they turn four? Mental Health Connection paints us a picture with the vastly increasing number of children who have been abused or maltreated, witnessed violence, and tell us that “children who have experienced trauma are 15 times more likely to attempt suicide, and three times more likely to experience depression.” In this workshops learn more about trauma informed care, how trauma can manifest itself in the behaviors and learning of children and learn the best ways to work with students who have experienced trauma.
