Tutoring & Mentoring
Partners In Education recruits, screens, places and facilitates training of volunteers who wish to serve as tutors and/or mentors in the schools. The organization also works with the schools to implement volunteer-friendly programs that impact student academic skills in a measurable way. Since 2001, over 3,000 volunteers participated in tutoring and mentoring programs facilitated or serviced by Partners In Education of Toledo.
Principal For A Day/Teacher For A Day
Partners In Education invites community members to spend 4-5 hours in local schools as Principal or Teacher for a Day.
- See firsthand what's really happening in the schools of the 21st century.
- Learn how you and your organization can help our public schools succeed.
- Your day includes classroom visits and direct interaction with principals and teachers.
The most recent Principal/Teacher For A Day program took place on April 15, 16, and 17, 2008. A luncheon with Superintendent John Foley was held April 18, including a chance to offer feedback about the experience.

Faculty In the Workplace
Each summer, Partners In Education offers secondary educators the opportunity to spend a week doing the types of jobs for which they are preparing their students. Faculty In the Workplace broadens the perspective of participating teachers, helping them to effectively translate to their students how academic skills are used in the world of work. In 2008, Faculty In the Workplace ran from June 9 - 13. This program is offered to Toledo Public School teachers in Career Technology, Technology Education, High School Core Academics, and High School Special Education. If you are interested in applying for a placement, please complete the attached application and return with a check in the amount of $25 to Partners In Education. Odyssey Senior High School Internships
Partners In Education works with area businesses and organizations to place Woodward and Scott High School students in valuable internship experiences.
- Internshps are offered in corporate, technology, legal, health care, government, skilled trades, journalism, science, and many other areas.
- Each internship requires six hours of participation per week.
- Student interns receive invaluable real-world experience and guidance from adult mentors.
- Many students find the experience helps them with career decisions and aids their job search efforts.

Principal & Business Mentoring Program
For the second year in a row, Partners In Education brought together a group of Toledo area business leaders and Toledo Public Schools Principals. The unique series of mentoring programs ran from the January 31 kickoff with the theme Qualities of a Leader and continues through a June 20 program on technology development featuring comments by University of Toledo President Lloyd Jacobs. The Principals attended workshops led by Kim Davis of Talent Track, Mark Luetke and Fletcher Word on working with the media, and Robert Savage of Savage & Associates. The Principal & Business Mentoring Program is a cooperative effort of Partners In Education, Toledo Association of Administrative Personnel, Toledo Public Schools, and Toledo Regional Chamberof Commerce.
