Dragon Boat Summer Learning Village
Partners in Education’s Summer Learning Festival
Thank you Summer Learning Village Partners and Entertainers for an amazing afternoon of family engagement, fun, and enrichment! Your involvement has made this one of the most successful years to date.
Summer learning loss, the phenomenon where young people lose academic skills over the summer, is one of the most significant causes of the achievement gap and a strong contributor to the high school dropout rate. For many young people, the summer “opportunity gap” contributes to gaps in achievement, employment and college and career success.
Here at Partners in Education we are raising awareness of summer learning loss and helping families with resources and opportunities to keep learning going all summer long. On July 22, 2017 the Summer Learning Festival was a three-hour celebration of all things family, summer and learning. Parents and students visited our Summer Learning Village from 10am-1pm during the Dragon Boat Summer Learning Festival for hands-on, family-focused activities for kids, parents, grandparents and kids at heart.
Upon arrival, register your family and receive a free bag, a free take-home activity and be eligible for family fun packages from a number of area education providers. All of the summer learning village activities and entertainment are free of charge.
Summer Learning Stations include:
Imagination Station, Toledo-Area Metroparks, Summer Meal Partners, National Museum of the Great Lakes, Success Mentors, College & Career Ready, Set, Go!, Mentors in Toledo Schools, Parent University, Afterschool Alliance and Skylight Financial Group Child ID station.
